Dear Readers,

Thanks to the advancement in the dental technology, there is an alternative to Metal Braces in the form of Ceramic Braces, but first let us understand the differences between the two.

Metal Braces are made from stainless steel brackets and wires that attach your teeth with rubber brands. Their chief features are:

  • Cost effective
  • Sturdier  offering strength, durability by withstanding higher levels of force & longer life.

Nonetheless, it has disadvantages too, some of which are:

  • Discomfort: Causes more of discomfort,
  • Esthetics: Gives a metallic smile

On the other hand, Ceramic Braces are made out  of polycrystalline alumina. They are subtler, making them less visible on the teeth.

In addition, the connecting wire can be colored to match the teeth, which further reduces the notability. These features make them unique in that they blend well with the teeth. They score over by providing aesthetic appearance, comfort.

Nonetheless, Ceramic Braces are not without limitations. When compared to Metal Braces, they are relatively .

  • Costlier, brittle, less sturdier and less durable.

Finally, on what you should choose, my advice is Ceramic Braces for adults, and Metal Braces for the children.
