The primary cause of white spots is attributed to ‘poor oral hygiene. This gets manifested in different signs, which are explained below:

White spots, termed as ‘decalcification’ in dental practice signals an early warning of signs of cavity on tooth.

White spots are the byproducts of the acidic bacteria arising out of the failure to remove the accumulation of plaque, it leads to decaying of enamel accumulation of plaque with the end result being ‘enamel de-calcification’.

#2. Fluorosis

Fluorosis ingests an excessive amount of fluoride during teeth and bone development. Most cases emanate with abnormally high levels of intake of minerals. While much it can be traced to the water, (e.g. well water), it can also be self-inflicted by swallowing large quantities of toothpaste frequently.

#3. Diet

If your food contains excessive acidic elements, artificial sweeteners, snacking frequently, eating processed, packaged foods can leave the residuals that cause the damage to the teeth.

#4. Lack of adequate of saliva flow

Saliva does the function of lubricating the inside portion of your mouth. in dental parlance, when it is not secreting in sufficient quantities,  it is described as ‘Xerostomia’, which in a simple term is denoted as dry mouth. It has a tendency to be more prevalent at certain parts of the times of the day or it could be resultant factor of your taking certain types of medication. Whatever may be the reason, it is an annoying & unhealthy condition that can show up through breathing allergies,  to creating discomfort while eating.

#5. Braces

White spots is a major risk factor of wearing Brackets, wires and or similar  orthodontic appliances. You can spot them from where the brackets were once bonded in place. It can be in the form of white or a partial circle into the enamel next to it.
